We offer two courses following the AQA syllabus:
- Separate Physics (4451): pupils study Physics modules 1, 2 & 3.
- Science B (4462) & Additional Science (4463): pupils study Physics modules 1 & 2.
The Separate Physics scheme leads to an individual GCSE grade for this subject.
In Science, Physics contributes with Biology and Chemistry to two GCSE grades.
Physics at GCSE allows students to explore a range of topics including forces, motion, electricity, magnetism, radioactivity, astronomy and waves.
Staff have included opportunities in work schemes for students to plan, carry out and analyse experiments, to research open ended topics, to apply ICT in a range of ways, and to develop thinking skills so that physics can be applied to unfamiliar situations. |

School-based assessment contributes 25% towards the final award in each GCSE course. This is based on normal class practical work and a question paper taken in a normal timetabled lesson but under controlled conditions.
75% of the final award is assessed by module tests taken during years 10 & 11.
The full specifications of each course are available on the AQA website.
