Information and Resources for Students Joining the Sixth Form

Welcome to Heckmondwike Grammar School

Dear Student

Becoming a Sixth Form student in a school is very special. Most importantly there is continuity of learning by specialist teachers who are well placed to ease the transition from GCSE to Advanced Level study. Their prime concern is your personal welfare and the successful completion of your studies. Hard work will be essential but you will receive excellent tuition and pastoral support.

Subject teachers have prepared material, which you will find on the website that gives an introduction to some of the topics you will encounter in the first few weeks. In addition there is guidance on the school’s expectations, which I hope you find helpful as you begin to embark on the next stage of your school career.

Every year there is a huge demand for places to study in the Sixth Form, with many more applicants than places available. I am delighted that you have been able to commit yourself to Heckmondwike Grammar School and I am confident that you will be successful here as well as enjoy the many opportunities we have to offer.

Yours sincerely

Dr S Gregson

Deputy Headteacher
