Celebration of Primary Languages
HGS hosts a Celebration of Primary Languages in Kirklees every summer
This took place on Thursday, 2nd July 2009 and was a great success. HGS hosted the event and the following schools were involved. Here is the programme of the day:
HGS – Year 7 pupils sang 2 songs in French – Je suis un artiste and Combien pour ce chien dans la vitrine? , complete with visual aids and face paints.
Millbridge Junior, Infant and Nursery school presented a Question of Sport in Frencb
Roberttown Junior and Infant School performed their version of Little Red Riding Hood. They also presented a current weather forecast for the week in French.
Littletown Junior, Nursery and Infant School interpreted The Hungry Caterpillar in French complete with their very own caterpillar!
Norristhorpe Junior and Infant School presented songs and sketches practising school vocabulary.
Cawley Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School introduced a German dimension with their songs, games and stories.
Finally Spen Valley Sports College entertained us with Le café au nez rouge.
HGS provided fruit juice and homemade biscuits for all participants and each child was awarded a certificate for taking part.
· Provision of French magazines and comics to primary schools
These are provided on a termly basis to our local school and include a musical CD.
