National Relay Championships for Secondary Schools
On Friday, November 11, 2005 the school had teams competing in the regional rounds of the ‘English Schools Swimming Association’ national relay championships for secondary schools. The event, held at Huddersfield Sports Centre, attracted schools from all over Yorkshire, Humberside and Lincolnshire.
In the Junior Championships (Years 7 to 9) the girls' team excelled, winning 2 Silver medals, finishing 2nd in both the Freestyle and Medley relays. A very young boys' team, containing three swimmers of Year 7 age, swam very well, showing great promise for the future.
In the Intermediate Championships (Years 10 and 11) the boys' team finished in the top 6 but just outside the medals, a very creditable performance against strong opposition.
Congratulations to all on an excellent set of results against very strong opposition in the largest of the ESSA divisions!
The next event for teams in Years 7 to 11 will be the Leeds and District Schools Championships in January 2006, where we will be attempting to regain the title which we so narrowly lost last year for the first time since our initial involvement in 2001. Details will be out shortly.
Mr. Allen
