On Friday, November 10, 2006, the school had teams competing in the regional round of the English Schools’ Swimming Association (ESSA) National Relay Championships for Secondary Schools.
In the largest of the ESSA regions schools were represented from as far afield as Scarborough, Hull and Scunthorpe.
Junior Championships
The girls' team won
a Silver medal, coming 2nd in the Freestyle relay
a Bronze medal, coming 3rd in the Medley relay.

Pride of place goes to the girls' team who won 2 Gold medals, emerging as Champions in both events.

Their time in the Freestyle relay was a new Championship record, breaking the previous best time held by HGS since 1998. This performance saw them qualify for the National Finals, to which the top 12 schools in the country are invited. This prestigious event will take place in Harrogate on February 3, 2007. We wish them luck.

who were selected to represent the ESSA Division 3 (Yorkshire, Humberside, North Lincs region) in this prestigious event in October 2006.
Avril won a Bronze medal, finishing 3rd in the Grand Final of the Intermediate 100m Backstroke.
Kate reached the Grand Final of the Intermediate 200m Individual Medley.
Suzanne was making her second appearance at this level.
