KS4 Core


The Government state that all students in full time education should  have an element of religious education in their school curriculum. At KS4 the following programme of study is followed from the AQA Short course specification. Students who have not opted to take the full course GCSE, may if they wish, be entered for the Short course GCSE at the end of Year 11. Historically about a 1/3 of the Year group choose to do this. The lesson time for this specification is one single period a week.

 

Core RE programme of study - Truth, spirituality and Contemporary issues

 

Nature and expression

What is truth? What is the meaning of life? Religious experience. Faith and religious commitment.

 

 

Religious responses to contemporary issues

Drugs - types, effects, attitudes towards, religious responses to.

 

The Media - how does it affect us, how is it controlled, religious responses to, religious broadcasting

 

Rich and poor in society - causes of wealth and poverty. The problems of homelessness and unemployment. Who should care for the poor. Religious responses to the poor.
