New Agreed Syllabus

The Kirklees New Agreed Syllabus has now been completed and comes into force from 2007.

Mrs Hallas in her role as Advanced Skills teacher has helped to produce this document and the teaching handbook that accompanies it.

The main changes have been that the content of what needs to be studied has been reduced to enable teachers to concentrate on skill development. Higher order thinking skills are built into schemes of work along with a variety of teaching and learning strategies. Religious Education at KS3 is marked using level descriptors.

The RE department at Heckmondwike has trialled many of these new schemes of work already and has been marking in levels for over 4 years.

Mrs Hallas is now running training sessions for colleagues throughout Kirklees in helping them to implement the new syllabus.
