A2 MODULES

 

MODULE 4: Global Change

 

  • Physical Geography: Seasonal and long term change.

General circulation; Tropical wet – dry regions of Africa; Long term climatic changes; Changing vegetation and soils in the British Isles; Tectonic processes.

  • People and the environment; Conflicts and hazards.

Burglary; Transmittable disease; Hurricanes; Earthquakes; Volcanoes. Los Angeles; a multiple hazard area.

Conflict over the use of a resource.

  • Human Geography: Changes in MEDC’s and LEDC’s in the last 30 years.

TNC’s; International migration; Political power and separatism; Development issues.

 


MODULE 5: The Synoptic Module

 

A decision making exercise (DME).

An advance information booklet (AIB) is issued four weeks before the exam.

Candidates undertake 8 hours preparation.

 


MODULE 6: The Practical Paper

 

Questions set in context of Module 1 and 4. Based upon investigative work based on evidence from primary sources (fieldwork), secondary sources and appropriate practical skills and techniques.
