Year 7 Design Technology

 The aims and objectives of the year 7 Design Technology course is to equip students with the skills and knowledge highlighted below:-

• The use of research methods such as product analysis and questionnaires
• Product drawing using orthographic projection
• Introduction to 3D computer modelling using Prodesktop
• Introduction to safe workshop practice
• Use of bending jigs to maintain quality control
• Material properties of plastics
• Manufacture of a mobile phone holder using acrylic
• Introduction to 2D computer design using Techsoft 2D design
• Introduction to Photoshop to design a stylised character
• To gain an understanding of the design features of sustainable packaging
• To design a piece of sustainable packaging

• Working through a design brief and specification to develop a design for a piece of sustainable packaging
• Generating ideas.
• Developing a design for a character to promote recycling
• Developing a CAD net for the packaging
• Practical realisation.
• Evaluation of outcomes against specifications
