On Friday, November 9 the school had teams competing in the regional round of the English Schools’ Swimming Association (ESSA)
National Relay Championships for Secondary Schools.
In the largest of the ESSA regions schools were represented from as far afield as Scarborough, Hull and Scunthorpe.
In the Junior Championships
the girls' team of
Emily Powell, Amy Royston, Charlotte Regan, Hannah Woodcock-Shaw
were finalists in the Freestyle relay finishing just outside the medal placings.
In the Intermediate Championships
Pride of place goes to the girls' team of
Fern Gardner, Emma Nutting, Avril Kiritschenko, Sophie Shields
who won a Gold medal, emerging as Champions in the Freestyle relay.
They would also have won the Medley relay quite comfortably but they were unfortunately disqualified for a technical offence.
ESSA inter-regional National Championships
Congratulations to Suzanne Ward and Avril Kiritschenko
who were selected to represent the Yorkshire, Humberside, North Lincs region in this prestigious event in October.
