Information for Parents

Information for Parents

Help from parents is essential for the Duke of Edinburgh award to be gained by a pupil.  This comes in many ways from lifts to and from places for volunteering to support and advice when some bits may get more difficult.  May we take the time now to thank you all for the support that you offer the pupils while they undertake the award.

Expedition

When undertaking the expedition phase the following information will be useful for parents.

Contact in an Emergency

While away on an expedition it can be difficult for a parent or pupil to keep in contact, in many cases this is actively discouraged, but in some emergency situations it will be necessary for a parent to get in touch with a pupil.  If this is the case then the first call to be made should be to the school in normal school hours 01924 402202, school will then carry out all that is needed and keep you informed at all times.  Outside of school hours the staff on the trip will have two school mobile phones the numbers of which are 07758 384030 and 07504 870514.  If there is no anwser please leave a message and the staff will get in touch with you as soon as is possible.  Please do not try to contact the pupils direct, contact in all instances should be made though a school contact.

Some of the expeditions do take place over a weekend, if school contact is needed at this time due to a very serious emergency the headmaster can be contacted on 07913 595538.

May we please ask you to stress again to your son or daughter that they are not to phone you if they are anxious about the situation they may find themselves in.  The staff on the expedition will be monioring the activity very closely though due to the nature of the expedition the pupils may not be aware of this.
