On Friday, November 13 the school had teams competing in the regional round of the English Schools’ Swimming Association (ESSA) National Relay Championships for Secondary Schools.
In the largest of the ESSA regions schools were represented from as far afield as Scarborough, Hull and Scunthorpe.
Junior Championships
A very young boys' team, containing three swimmers of Year 7 age, swam very well, showing great promise for the future.
They gained valuable experience which will stand them in good stead next year as all four will be eligible for the same age group.
The girls' team won a Bronze Medal, finishing 3rd in the Medley Relay, and were finalists in the Freestyle Relay, finishing just outside the medals in 4th place.
Intermediate Championships
The girls' team were finalists in both event, finishing 5th in the Medley Relay and 6th in the Frestyle Relay.
Senior Championships
the boys' team of was the first HGS team to enter at this level and performed with great credit in both events.
ESSA inter-regional National Championships
Congratulations to George Flesher and Rebecca Fisher
who were selected to represent the Yorkshire, Humberside, North Lincs region in this prestigious event in October.
