Summary of Current National Nutritional Guidelines for Secondary Schools
1.0 The standards require at least two items from the following food groups to be available at lunchtime:
1.1 Starchy foods such as Bread, Potatoes, Rice & Pasta.
1.2 Vegetables and Fruit.
1.3 Milk and Dairy Foods
1.4 Meat, Fish and alternative sources of Protein.
1.5 Red Meat must be served at least three times weekly.
1.6 Oily Fish must be served at least once every three weeks.
2.0 National Nutritional Standards apply to:
2.1 All hot and cold lunches provided for students during term time.
