Boys Results and Match Reports 2011/2012

Year 7

Heckmondwike 8-0 Earlsheaton High school

The year 7 football team must of known the Indian summer was here this week as they were on “fire” with a 8-0 win against local rivals Earlsheaton high school.

The team started 4-4-2 where Joshua Mitchell in the goals was like Bruce Grobelar and holding onto any through balls all game.

At half time we were 4-0 up with George Webster getting a brace and other goals coming from Tom Ashen and Harry Walker.

Mr Rourke decided to adopt a more  attacking formation  to a 4-3-3 formation with James Bentley sitting in nicely in front of the back four acting like a little Jack Russell Picking up stray balls .

Goals in the second half from Tom Ashen , Jack dykes and George Webster getting his fourth goal completed the game convincingly.

Special mention to outstanding performances from Ben Ramsden who was as cool as a cucumber at the back, and Midfielder Charlie Wood who was like the UPS delivery man setting up fantastic opportunities for our Centre forwards!

A great Start to the season! Well Done!

Year 10

Heckmondwike Grammar school 2-4 Mirfield Free Grammar

A slow start was an understatement in this game against local rivals Mirfield Free Grammar. Heckmondwike were 2-0 down after 5minutes after sloppy defending meant mirfield created several 1 on 1 opportunities with the goalkeeper.
Mirfield then dispatched again 10 minutes before half time to make it 3-0.
After a stern talk at half time and a couple of tactical changes Heckmondwike were bossing the game and scored two quick goals, the pressure was heavily on Mirfield with Jack Gape making blistering runs in behind and Angus Maney passing the ball like Paul Scholes.
Unfortunately Heckmondwike could not keep the momentum going and Mirfield in the last five minutes scored an excellent volley 20 yards out in the top corner to make it 4-2 to the visitors.
Good performances from Chris Rouse, Daniel Hopley and Michael Pyle were not enough for Heckmondwike to secure their place in the next round of the spen valley cup.
