The school has excellent links with with National Governing bodies, local sports clubs and professional sports organisations including the RFL , RFU and White Rose football academy to provide pathways for elite sports performance, leadership and officiating. Development coaches contribute to curriculum lessons and set up pathways for pupils to extend their participation via local and professional clubs both as performers, officials and coaches.

Our PE department also runs an annual whole school sports day held at the Princess Mary athletics stadium and a swimming gala at Spenborough swimming complex.

Our Music and Drama department offers students the opportunity to participate in a wide range of musical and dramatical events throughout the year. We perform regular ‘showcase’ performance evenings which feature our bands, choirs and drama groups. Our Soul Band have regularly performed at the Marsden Jazz Festival and Music for Youth Festival, as well as at a variety of external concerts in the local community. The schools own Theatre In Education company regularly performs to local junior schools and we have taken part in the National Shakespeare Schools Festival.

We regularly put on a full school musical production which have recently included Return to the Forbidden Planet, Little Shop of Horrors and We Will Rock You. There are also the annual house competitions in both music and drama which provide the opportunity for all students to showcase their talents.
