The Physical Education department offers students the opportunity to participate in a range of sports and activities both at lunchtimes and after school.

These include internal competitions such as football, hockey and tennis tournaments as well as house competitions in all major sports including an annual swimming gala and athletics sports day.

The school also enters teams into district, county and national competitions in athletics, cricket, cross country, football, hockey, netball, rugby, tennis and rounders.

The department also runs a number of trips including a junior and senior ski trip to Austria and America as well as a residential outdoor pursuits trip to the Lake District for Year 9 pupils.

Pupils in key stage 4 and 5 are given the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze, Silver and Gold awards .

The school has excellent links with external clubs and organisations including the RFL, RFU and White Rose football academy. Development coaches contribute to curriculum lessons and set up pathways for pupils to extend their participation via local and professional clubs both as performers, officials and coaches.
