Monitoring progress

Academic progress is monitored through the collection of Current Grades throughout the year. The grade is based upon a range of assessments conducted across the year, including formal assessments, class work and homework. The current grade is used to generate a Projected Grade, the grade that the student is likely to secure at the end of the course based on their current attainment.

Students will also be given an attitude to learning grade. The attitude to learning grade is a five point scale, with ‘green’ being the expectation of all students. Students working beyond expectations will be given silver or gold, with those below expectations given amber or red.

The Sixth form team track these grades carefully and offer additional support to students where needed. The support needed varies for each student; examples could be helping the student to develop their study habits (e.g. managing time and workload) or helping students to access subject specific support.
