Sixth Form Study
To get the most out of Sixth Form, time outside lessons should be used for studying to consolidate the learning from your lessons.
Successful students use their study time wisely. In both Year 12 and Year 13, you will have some non-contact time on your timetable. It is expected that you will use this time to study in school unless you have elected to take part in enrichment activities.
By the end of Year 13, you should be spending 30 hours per week working outside the classroom. You should aim to build up to this level throughout your time in Sixth Form, and should be completing a minimum of five hours per week of independent study (including homework) per subject. Teachers will provide guidance as to the types of work that can be completed in this time.
You might want to download the independent learning subject guides for your subjects to give you some ideas for how to structure your study time effectively.
