How to Register for Year 7 Entry

Follow our step-by-step guide if you wish to apply for a place for your child to start in Year 7 in the next academic year.

Registration for Year 7 September 2026 entry is now closed. 

Registration for September 2027 will open at 9:00am on Monday 11 May 2026 and close at midday on Monday 22 June 2026. We are unable to accept any late or incomplete registrations.

Step 1

Register your child online for our entrance exam if their date of birth is between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016.

Step 2

We will contact you to invite your child to sit our entrance exam, which is usually held in September.

Step 3

We will contact you in mid-October with details of whether or not your child has met the required standard. You should then complete your Local Authority’s Common Application Form before their deadline.

Step 4

Your Local Authority will inform you on the National Offer Day (usually 1 March) which secondary school your child has been allocated. If your child has been offered a place at HGS, you will receive further information from us shortly after this.
