Sports Fixtures and Events
HGS enters teams into a range of district, county and national competitions in all major sporting activities.
When fixtures are planned, details will be published on the Year notice boards in the PE corridor and in registers. A copy of the team sheet will also be available at reception. As much notice as possible will be provided but often in cup competitions we are working to tight deadlines to get fixtures played.
Students should ensure that they inform their parents/carers about the event, and confirm their availability with the member of staff running the team. Exact return times to school will be dependent on the duration of the fixture and traffic delays. Students will be asked to contact a parent/carer regarding any delays.
Internal Competitions, House Events, Training Sessions and Clubs
Details of these events will be published on the PE noticeboards. Events can take place at lunchtimes and after school. Students should make arrangements to collect their lunch at break time or bring a packed lunch. It is essential that students inform parents/carers if they are attending an after-school session.
House competitions take place throughout the school year. They include an annual swimming gala and whole school sports day. House staff select the teams for each event.

- Year 9 outdoor pursuits residential (Lake District)
- House athletics (Princess Mary athletics stadium)
