Existing HGS students should aim to have enrolled before 10:00 am to ensure that their offer is secure.

New Heckmondwike Grammar School Students with conditional offers are invited to enrol at the designated times:

Please note that you must have enrolled before 1:00pm if you would like to attend Heckmondwike Grammar Sixth Form in September.

Students Without a Conditional Offer

If you do not currently hold a conditional offer to join Heckmondwike Grammar School Sixth Form, the process you need to follow depends on whether you submitted an application before the published deadline.

Students who applied before the application deadline (19 December)

  • If you submitted an application before 19 December but either:
    • did not attend your Sixth Form consultation meeting; or
    • were not issued with a conditional offer,

you may still be eligible to join our Sixth Form if, following the publication of your GCSE results, you have met our published entrance requirements which can be viewed by accessingd

To be considered for a place, please attend Heckmondwike Grammar School on Thursday 20 August between 10:30 am and 1:00 pm to register your interest in enrolling.

Students who did not apply before the application deadline

  • If you did not submit an application before 19 December, you will be considered as a late applicant.
    • Please attend Heckmondwike Grammar School on Thursday 20 August between 10:30 am and 1:00 pm to complete a Late Application Form. You will need to bring photographic identification (passport preferred), a copy of your GCSE examination results and any evidence of Free School Meals if applicable. Your GCSE results will be verified and your preferred A Level subjects recorded.

Please note that in the interest of fairness, late applications are not considered during the enrolment window. Instead, they will be reviewed after enrolment closes at 1:00 pm, once all eligible applicants who applied before the deadline have been processed.

Any remaining places will then be allocated to late applicants in rank order, based on their GCSE Average Point Score (APS). Places will be offered to the highest-ranked applicants until all available places have been filled.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best on GCSE results day, and I look forward to welcoming you to the Sixth Form in September.

Yours sincerely,

 Mr J Longridge

Assistant Headteacher – Post 16

Review of Sixth Form Admissions Decisions

If an applicant is not offered a place at Heckmondwike Grammar School Sixth Form and believes that the admissions arrangements have not been correctly applied, or that a factual or administrative error has affected the decision, they may request a review of the outcome. Requests should be made in writing and emailed to [email protected], within 10 school days of receiving the decision and should outline the reasons for the request, together with any relevant supporting information. The review will be carried out by a senior member of staff who was not involved in the original decision to ensure that the published admissions arrangements have been applied fairly and consistently. A written response will be provided explaining the outcome of the review. Please note that there is no statutory right of appeal against Sixth Form admissions decisions.
