Pathway Programme

Our pathways provide you with career-specific information and a range of additional opportunities during your time in our Sixth Form.

The HGS Sixth Form Pathway Programme is designed to give you bespoke support towards the career of your choice. Each pathway ensures you achieve the additional support, experiences and guidance needed to help you achieve your future goals and ambitions.​ After subscribing to a pathway, you will be able to access career-specific events, guest speakers, trips and visits.

Oxbridge Pathway – Students who aspire to attend Oxford or Cambridge University will follow this pathway and receive support designed to help them prepare for this prestigious opportunity. Oxbridge Pathway is led by Mrs Stone.

Medical Sciences Pathway – Aspiring medics, dentists, veterinary surgeons, pharmacists, physiotherapists, midwives, biomedical scientists and nurses will develop a deeper understanding of medical careers. Medical Sciences Pathway is led by Mrs Noble.

Apprenticeship and Employment Pathway – Many students would like to enter the world of employment at the end of their A level studies, and this pathway gives them the knowledge and skills they need to achieve this. Apprenticeship and Employment Pathway is led by Mrs Ellis.

STEM Pathway – Aspiring scientists, designers, engineers and mathematicians will develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of STEM-based careers including degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computing, Engineering, Product Design and Sports Science. STEM Pathway is led by Mr Brooke-Mawson.

Humanities and Arts Pathway – Students interested in pursuing degree courses in English, Geography, Art and Design, History, Law, French, Spanish, Music, and Performing Arts will learn about the opportunities available to them. Humanities and Arts Pathway is led by Mrs Whitelaw. ​

Business, Economics and Finance Pathway – Additional opportunities will be available linked to pursuing a career in the Business and Finance sector, including degree courses in Business, Economics, Accountancy and Finance. Business, Economics and Finance Pathway is led by Mrs Harker. ​
