Houldsworth House

The youngest House at HGS, Houldsworth is named after Sir Hubert S. Houldsworth, one of the most, if not the most distinguished old scholar of the school. A trained barrister and MP, he was Controller General at the Ministry of Fuel & Power from 1944 to 1945, then chairman of the National Coal Board from 1951 to 1956.

We have had success of late in the academic events of the house programme. With recent success in drama, music, debates and spelling bees, as well as the most positives for behaviour and work in school, Houldsworth has always been a good home for enthusiastic students who are willing to try new activities.
