Programmes Of Study

Your Programme of Study is the set of subjects you pick to study during your two years in Sixth Form. You can choose subjects that match your strengths, interests, and future plans. All of our A levels are assessed at the end of Year 13 with final exams. Most students take three A-levels in line with university expectations, however, if you have high GCSE grades, you may be able to study four A-levels, and if you want to take Further Maths, you’ll need to choose four. You can also take the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which lets you dive into an independent research project on a topic you care about. Doing the EPQ is great preparation for university, helping you build research, critical thinking, and writing skills.
Our timetable works on a two-week cycle. Most A-level subjects get 10 hours of lessons per cycle, plus 2 hours of skills lessons. You’ll also have free periods for independent study, so you can use our workrooms, study in the library, or relax with friends in the Jo Cox Centre. If you show a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, you can even earn the chance to leave the site during your non-contact periods through our earned autonomy programme.
In addition to your main subjects, everyone takes part in personal development sessions like PSHE and a skills programme to help you become a confident, independent learner. Our Pathway model gives you even more choice, so you can shape your Sixth Form journey to fit your goals—whether that’s university, an apprenticeship, or jumping straight into work.
