Careers at HGS: Supporting Every Step from Year 7 to Year 13
Our Careers Hub is at the heart of helping students discover their strengths, explore future pathways, and make confident, informed decisions about life beyond school.
The school is proud to employ Mrs Ellis and Mrs Haigh, both highly experienced and professionally qualified Careers Advisers. Based in the Careers Hub B013, they offer personalised advice and guidance to students across all year groups. All Year 11 and Year 12 students receive a dedicated careers guidance interview, while students in any year can access support through the careers drop-in sessions, held Monday to Thursday at lunchtime (12.45pm–1.15pm), or by booking an appointment.
Mrs Ellis and Mrs Haigh are also happy to support parents and can be contacted via [email protected]

From Year 7 through to Year 13, students take part in a carefully planned and progressive careers programme. This includes Personal Development and tutorial lessons, careers events, employer talks, workshops, and presentations tailored to each stage of a student’s journey. We work with a wide range of employers, training providers, and Higher Education institutions to inspire students, broaden horizons, and help them understand the many pathways available to them.
Whether students are beginning to explore careers in the lower school or making important decisions about university, apprenticeships, or employment in the sixth form, our aim is simple:
to ensure every student leaves HGS with a clear, realistic, and ambitious plan that is right for them and enables them to reach their full potential.
