HGS Students Crowned Regional Champions and Secure Place in National Final

A huge congratulations to Swarit, Jacob, Simrik and Yusuf, who achieved an outstanding 1st place finish at the 2026 UKMT Senior Team Maths Challenge Regional Event, held at Bradford Grammar School.

Competing against 20 schools and colleges from across the North region, the team delivered an exceptional performance, scoring an incredible 174 out of 180 points. Remarkably, they made just one mistake throughout the entire competition, demonstrating an extraordinary level of mathematical skill, teamwork and accuracy.

Their regional victory means they have secured a place in the UKMT Senior Team Maths Challenge National Final, which will be held in Manchester this March.

The students represented Heckmondwike Grammar School superbly and their success reflects the hard work, dedication and talent of all four team members. We are immensely proud of their achievement and look forward to cheering them on as they compete against the nation’s best mathematicians at the national final.

Congratulations to Swarit, Jacob, Simrik and Yusuf on this fantastic accomplishment, and we wish them every success in Manchester.
